Rock Valley Hay Auction for Thursday, July 24, 2014

Receipts:  81 loads    Last Week:  64 loads    Last Year:  87 loads

Compared to last week, the market continued weaker with rain sweeping 
through northwest Iowa on Thursday.  This week`s offerings consisted of 42% 
Alfalfa; 44% Grass; 4% Mixed Hay, 3% Oat Hay, and 7 percent bedding and 
straw.  All prices dollars per ton, except where noted.  All sales FOB Rock 
Valley, Iowa, vicinity.
 
One load Small Squares equals approximately 5 tons; Large Squares and 
Large Rounds range from 10-25 tons per load.

   Alfalfa:  Premium:  Large Rounds, 2 loads 125.00-140.00.  Good:  Large 
Rounds, 13 loads 100.00-115.00.  Fair:  Large Rounds, 14 loads 75.00-95.00.  
Utility:  Large Rounds, 3 loads 62.50-72.50; Large Squares, 1 load 70.00.

   Grass:  Premium:  Large Rounds, 1 load 125.00; Small Squares, 1 load 
140.00.  Good:  Large Squares, 1 load 95.00; Large Rounds, 4 loads 90.00-
100.00.  Fair:  Large Squares, 3 loads 80.00-85.00; Large Rounds, 16 loads 
72.50-87.50.  Utility:  Large Rounds, 10 loads 60.00-70.00.
